Resetting a Computer

To safely reset a computer while preserving important files, here are some backup and reset options:

## Backup Methods

**For personal files:**

- Use an external hard drive or USB drive to copy Documents, Desktop, Downloads, and any other folders containing important files

- Consider cloud storage services like Google Drive, OneDrive, or Dropbox for automatic syncing

- Use Windows built-in File History feature (if enabled) or create a system image backup

**For Gamaprint RIP and printer settings:**

- Document your current Gamaprint settings by taking screenshots of configuration screens

- Look for Gamaprint profile/preset files (usually in program folders or user directories) and copy them

- Note down your Epson printer driver version and download link

- Export any custom color profiles or ICC profiles you're using

- Save any job templates or frequently used print settings

## Reset Options

**Windows Reset (Keep Files):**

- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Recovery > Reset this PC

- Choose "Keep my files" option - this removes apps but preserves personal files

- Note: You'll need to reinstall Gamaprint RIP and reconfigure settings

**Clean Installation:**

- More thorough but requires complete backup of everything

- Fresh Windows install often resolves performance and stability issues better

## Additional Troubleshooting

Before resetting, consider these steps that might resolve the issues:

- Check available disk space (low space causes slowdowns and crashes)

- Update Gamaprint RIP to the latest version

- Update or reinstall Epson printer drivers

- Run Windows Memory Diagnostic to check for RAM issues

- Check Windows Event Viewer for specific error messages when Gamaprint crashes
