How to Resolve the 404 File Not Found Problem in Teams

The Quick File-Upload Fix
Many users on Microsoft Answers and Microsoft Tech Community report that forcing Teams to remap your OneDrive directory fixes this issue:
  1. Start a 1:1 chat with any colleague in Teams.
  2. Click the Attach file paperclip icon > Upload from this device.
  3. Send a local file to the chat.
  4. Sign out of Teams, close the app completely, and sign back in.
Clear Your Teams Cache
If the quick fix doesn't work, your local app may be holding onto broken or cached links. To clear your cache:
  1. Completely close out of Microsoft Teams.
  2. Press Win + R on Windows (or open Terminal on macOS).
  3. Type %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams (Windows) or navigate to ~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Teams (Mac) and delete the contents inside those folders.
  4. Restart Teams.
Additional Troubleshooting
If OneDrive still throws a 404 error inside Teams:

  • Verify on the Web: Try logging into OneDrive on the Web via your browser to ensure your personal account and files are active.
  • Contact your IT Admin: If you are on a work or school account, your organization may have revoked your OneDrive/SharePoint license, or your UPN changes are still propagating.
