Improve the performance on Corel Draw 2019
1. Shift CorelDRAW to the Dedicated GPU
By default, CorelDRAW 2019 might be relying on your processor's integrated Intel chip instead of your 4GB dedicated graphics card, putting a heavy processing burden on your i3.
- Open the Windows Settings app (
Win + I). - Navigate to System > Display > Graphics.
- Under the list of apps, locate CorelDRAW 2019. (If it is not listed, click "Browse" and locate the
.exefile inside your Program Files folder). - Click CorelDRAW, select Options, choose High performance (which points directly to your 4GB GPU), and click Save. This will immediately offload complex vector rendering from your CPU.
2. Isolate Google Chrome with a RAM Cap
Chrome is a multi-process browser; opening multiple tabs creates separate hidden processes that aggressively lock up your processor's attention span.
- Close background tabs you aren't using while running LightBurn or CorelDRAW.
- If you must keep dozens of tabs open for design assets or references, temporarily switch to Microsoft Edge for your heavy design sessions. Edge features a strict built-in slider called Efficiency Mode that lets you manually force the browser to restrict its resource footprint when design programs are active in the foreground.
3. Clear the CorelDRAW Font & Temp Cache
CorelDRAW 2019 builds highly bloated temporary scratch files and actively monitors hundreds of system fonts in the background, which can cause severe software lag that mimics a lack of memory.
- Close CorelDRAW completely.
- Press
Win + Ron your keyboard, type%temp%, and press Enter. - Select everything inside the folder that opens and delete it. (Skip any files Windows says are currently in use).
- Hold down the F8 key on your keyboard while clicking your shortcut to open CorelDRAW. Keep holding F8 until a prompt appears asking if you want to overwrite the current workspace with the factory defaults. Click Yes. This clears out broken workspace caches and optimizes application loading speeds instantly.
4. Turn On Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling
This Windows feature allows your 4GB dedicated graphics card to manage its own video memory allocations directly, instead of forcing the i3 CPU to act as an intermediary, which drastically cuts down on multitasking latency.
- Open Settings > System > Display > Graphics.
- Click on Change default graphics settings at the very top of the page.
- Toggle the switch for Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling to On.
- Restart your computer to apply the change. [1]
By utilizing your 4GB GPU effectively and optimizing your software settings, you can completely eliminate the lag without buying a memory upgrade. *****IMPORTANT**** This option only shows up if the graphics card and driver support WDDM 2.7 or higher.
The Best Free Fix: Adjust CorelDRAW Rendering
Because your RTX A400 is an entry-level workstation card designed for power efficiency rather than heavy GPU caching, CorelDRAW 2019 is overloading it. You can instantly stop the lag by telling CorelDRAW to use your CPU for vector processing instead of your maxed-out graphics card:
- Launch CorelDRAW 2019.
- Go to the top menu and select Tools > Options > CorelDRAW (or press
Ctrl + J). - On the left sidebar, click on Global.
- Look for the Performance settings section.
- Uncheck the box that says "Enable GPU Vector Previewing" or "Use GPU for rendering".
- Click OK and restart CorelDRAW.
By turning this off, your 14th Gen Intel CPU (which is currently sitting almost completely idle at 8% usage) will take over the rendering math. This will instantly empty your choked-up 4GB GPU memory and completely remove the system stutter.
