How to Setup a Computer to Connect to the Servers
To change the domain or workgroup (subgroup) in Windows 11, navigate to Settings > System > About, click Domain or workgroup, then click Change in the System Properties window to enter a new domain or workgroup name. A restart is required, and for domain changes, you will need administrative credentials.
Changing Workgroup or Domain (Method 1: Settings)
This is the standard method for Windows 11 Pro/Enterprise/Education:
-Open Settings and select System.
-Click About, then select Domain or workgroup under "Device specifications".
-In the Computer Name tab, click Change. Then, type the name. Usual names at Howard Industries are HOWARD-213, HOWARD-96, etc.
-Under "Member of", select Domain or Workgroup and type the new name, which should be "howardindustries.local" in our case.
-Click OK, provide authorized credentials if joining a domain, and restart your computer.
To join a domain or workgroup, just click on Network ID... . This function will prompt you to select the option that describes the network. Choose the first one, then click
on NEXT. To the question, "is your company network on a domain?", select the answer MY COMPANY USES A NETWORK WITH A DOMAIN and click on NEXT. Then, provide
the following information: user name, password, and domain name. As for the user name, make sure to type first and last name separated by a ".". For example, john.doe.
The password has to be the one used when signing to the computer. Finally, the domain name is howardindustries.local.
